Neurophysiology Overview

Concerned with the functioning of the nervous system, International Radiology Centre provides high calibre neurophysiology expertise.

The department’s three main service areas comprise electroencephalogram (EEG), the recording of the brain’s electrical functions – significant for patients who have suffered epilepsy, seizures, encephalopathy, encephalitis, brain tumors or sleep disorders for example.

Another specialisation is electromyography (EMG) which monitors the electrical potential of skeletal muscles, important in the detection of neuromuscular disease. Our third neurophysiology area constitutes nerve conduction studies (NCS) which identify nerve damage, such as in diabetes or nerve compression.

Again accuracy in monitoring and testing and expertise in diagnosing and reporting remain critical to our operation.
